THE WHAT: Our goal is to successfully educate people about plant based diets island wide. THE WHERE: This will occur anywhere there is a community of people willing to learn. THE WHEN: We hope to educate five people by September 2021. THE HOW: We will go to the communities, present to them the benefits of foraging & gardening, and encourage them to use plant based diets in their daily lives. THE COST: For us, there will be no financial strain, and no financial strain in the Maui community. THE GREENHOUSE GASES: For one person, this can sequester up to 1.5 tons of GGs. Multiply that by the people we influence, and you’ve got your answer. |
BENEFITS:
If everyone were to agree to this new idea, there will be multiple benefits. For starters, the Maui community will have a stable diet that not only is healthy to the body, but also healthy to the environment. Secondly, this may be a small step in changing climate change but it is definitely an important one. Lastly, a great benefit is that we are educating people who may not know that much about this topic. DRAWBACKS: With all great ideas, there are some drawbacks. Some drawbacks this project will include are people not willing to participate and the challenge of convincing people this is a serious topic. Another drawback this includes is that it may be healthy, but working on a garden and foraging for invasive species is very challenging. |
